27th edition of the Messier Sugar Shack party

On April 26, 2015, we held the 27th edition of the Messier family dinner at the Sugar Shack "Pavillon de l’érable" in St. Jude which 122 people attended. They represented mainly the descendants of Zacharie/ Azarie Messier and Catherine Lamoureux, their guests and some members of the Association des Familles Messier inc.

 

The participants began to arrive at the sugar shack around 10:30 a.m. and the last left around 4:30 p.m.  Several regions were well represented: Northbridge, MA, the Eastern Townships, Mauricie, Lanaudière, Montérégie, Montreal, Laval, etc. Again, we took the opportunity to recall good memories, take notice of the exhibition of old photos and pedigrees. We watched a slide show on the activities of the 25th anniversary on the founding of our Association. The food was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed. Outside, young people had fun in a children playground. A hike in the woods and a sleigh ride with two horses was also available for those who wanted to enjoy it.  Farm animals were also on site.

 

Réjean Messier, Secretary-Treasurer, was present to accept new memberships or renewals for the Association and to satisfy those who wanted pins or crests of the Association.

 

It should be mentioned that this activity has started a year before the formation of the Association under the guidance of Arsene Messier and his nephew Jean-Marie. On the death of the latter, Louis-Aimé took over for 8 years. I was in my 17th year. It is time to search for a replacement.

 

April 24, 2016 is the next date set for this activity in St-Jude. Write it down on your calendar.
