26th edition of the Messier Sugar Shack party

On Sunday April 13, 2014

They announced a dull day, rainy and highways blocked at the intersection of the Highways 20 and 30. Here is an undesired scenario for this activity with a lot of subjets on the table. Nevertheless, 135 participants attended and more than 50 were with us for the first time. They came from as far as Nominingue, Quebec city, the Eastern Townships, Lanaudiere, Montreal, Monteregie, etc.

Marie-Paule presented our group her first book "L'amour m'a sauvée" "Love saved me". A story of her biography in French only. On this occasion, her cousin Gabriel Cloutier, accompanied by his grandson Jean Philippe St. Onge and a friend Michel Roy whom played their best mucical melodies for us.

On this occasion, we announced for our 25th Anniversary various activities planned for 2014: Conference of Gilles Messier at the Historical Society of Varennes, the Open House Day of the Museums in Old Montreal, the gathering of Messier in Varennes and the Annual Meeting of the Association. Welcome to every one!

Our secretary treasurer, Rejean Messier was there to take new memberships and accept the membership renewal for 2014-2015. He took the opportunity to meet those who want to get à 2014 calendar, a shield or a pin.

Three other members of the Board of the Directors of the Association were present: Richard Leonardo, President, Camille Messier, Vice-president and Paul-Albert Messier, Director.

Again, it is with pleasure that we exchanged and viewed photos and genealogy books on display.

.

We ate taffy on snow and others took advantage to go to the forest by car ride and horses.

We give appointment next year, Sunday April 26, 2015 at the same location.

The fallowing pictures show the good atmosphere at the sugar shack.

Here are comments from a regular participant:

« What a success! I don't know how many people attended and how descended from Messier but it was amazing. The meal was very gook. Note also the positive efforts of the Association to meet the members, activities, newspaper, calendars, pins, badges, etc.

What a great organization! Thank you! And what about the good thoughts you had for children. Nathan enjoyed makeup, inflatable games and car ride with horses. On his behalf, thank you! I send you 2 photos of pure happiness. Greetings!
